Have you been here before?

Well, after 40 something hours and three flights I finally arrived in Delhi; delayed, jetlagged, and petrified. But as they say in the classics getting there is half the fun, and fun it was.

Here is a quick rundown of things that entertained me on the way to Delhi:

- I actually slept on the play (how is that entertaining you ask, wellits certainly more interesting that watching people come in out of the the toilets I was sitting directly beside)
- Playing "Guess the nationality" in Bangkok airport with a couple of Dutch tourists. (The games is definitely influenced by the nationality of the player, I never would have guessed that half the people in the airport were Dutch, but the guys I was with insisted)
- Walking the entire length of the terminal building, both levels (that's 4kms of ACTION)
- Getting into the Qantas club and having a shower (downside having to put on same clothes) (thanks to Sarah for the pass)
- Watching a man talk on his mobile phone while taking a pee. (before you ask, it was necessarily entertaining but I still don't know how he did his pants up with one hand)

Today I found a friendly enough taxi driver come tour guide who was prepared to take me around the sights of Delhi for the day. We visiting Jma Masjid (huge mosque), red Fort (REd fort), Raj Ghat (gardens where Gandhi is interned), India gate (India's answer to the Arc de Triomphe), and Humayun's Tomb (prototype for Taj Mahal).

This afternoon I spent looking around Connaught Place, the centre of New Delhi. The British build a large traffic circus with three rings and divided into several blocks. The buildings all form beautiful arcades in correct Tuscan architecture but are all very rundown.

Well it is getting late and I need to find a place for dinner.

Well its too late to turn back now!

Welcome to the first installment of what is anticipated as my travel journal, capturing all the highs and lows of my trip to Rajasthan and surrounds. How arrogant I have become that I feel that my trip is not only worthy to be remembered in a personal journal, but should be read by every man women and child. (...gee the trip better live up to the hype.) I never thought I would see the day that I would have my own blog but here it is. Enjoy.

If you're reading this you are probably now aware that I am about to embark on the most crazy thing I've ever done to date. You're surely thinking that I'm over reacting, well quite possibly, but at this stage the anxiety is kicking in and I'm really getting shit scared.

Well at 1:15am tonight (29/12) I'll be on the tarmac heading to Bangkok, (via Phuket of course) and after a full day waiting around the departure lounge of BKK I'll be on my way to the epicenter of the world, Delhi.
